The Nutcracker

Based on the original E.F. Hoffman tale of a young girl's Christmas adventure, ODT's unique version of Tchaikovsky's Christmas classic includes several dance forms: ballet, jazz, tap, and gymnastics. Elaborate sets, beautiful costumes, Eeek! the mouse, and some spectacular special effects make the stage come alive. This timeless classic will feature over 100 community members as well as ODT Company and apprentice company members with professional guest artists from around the country. The school performance joins the story after the party at midnight when Drosselmeyer returns with the Nutcracker and casts a magic spell over the house. As an added benefit, there will be a segment featuring core curricular content to further assist teachers in dance instruction as an art form.
