2009 YATA in August - more to come!

Y.A.T.A., now in its sixth year, continues to establish itself as an outstanding theatre training opportunity for high school and college students. Y.A.T.A. sessions are partnered with the annual International Mystery Writers’ Festival or touring Broadway productions as they are assembled at RiverPark Center for American and world premieres.

Typical sessions include not only class room studies, but hands-on production experiences, working alongside top writers, theatre producers, directors and actors, studying the rehearsal process and Q&A sessions with the professionals. As an example, 2008 students spent a whole day with actor Josh Hutcherson, during the Mystery Festival in June. Hutcherson most recently starred in “Journey To The Center Of The Earth”.

Y.A.T.A. 2009 has a session offered during the U.S. Premiere of four Agatha Christie works presented in the audience-loved style of Live Radio Theatre during the Mystery Festival this August. Mini Y.A.T.A. sessions are offered when opportunities arise at RiverPark Center. This year, a session will be scheduled during the tour assembly of the hilarious musical comedy, “The Drowsy Chaperone”. The tour will be built and rehearsed here at RiverPark Center during the Christmas break. The performance is scheduled for January 1 at 7 p.m. as part of the BB&T Broadway At RiverPark Series.

Please contact Lynda Youngman at 270-687-2770 (lyoungman@riverparkcenter.org) to be considered for future YATA opportunities.

YATA

Y.A.T.A. continues to establish itself as an outstanding theatre training opportunity, as it aims to live the mission of the RiverPark Center: to improve the quality of life by hosting and presenting diverse arts and civic events, and focusing on arts in education.

High school senior, Alexis says of her Y.A.T.A. experience "I was thrilled to be a part of the world premier. YATA convinced me that I want to pursue a career in theatre. I will always carry the memories and friends of YATA in my heart; I would never trade this experience for the world".
