YATA – The Young Adult Theatre Academy is more than your typical summer camp… it is the ultimate summer theatre camp experience! Click here to download the application.

Join us for the most progressive summer theater program geared toward college and upper-level high school students. YATA combines the best drama, writing, and creative arts curriculums into hands-on, participatory practices that have you working alongside theatre professionals from across the country. For 4 1/2 fun-filled days, dive into the theatre trenches of the International Mystery Writers' Festival in Owensboro, KY, and develop your personal theater skills while launching world premier performances of 13 brand new performance-based productions.
The one-of-a-kind Young Adult Theatre Academy (YATA) includes practical classroom training, hands-on production experience, professional insight from top theatre producers, directors, and actors, and lifelong friendships built on common interests and understandings.

The International Mystery Writers' Festival transforms the RiverPark Center into a living theatre laboratory, where writers, directors, actors, designers, producers, dramaturges, and audiences will take part in the creation and development of new plays. This is a fantastic opportunity for high schoolers and college students to become an active behind-the-scenes participant in putting it all together while working side by side with the professionals.
Y.A.T.A., in its fourth year, continues to establish itself as an outstanding theatre training opportunity, as it aims to live out the mission of the RiverPark Center: to improve the quality of life by hosting and presenting diverse arts and civic events, and focusing on arts in education.
High school senior, Alexis says of her Y.A.T.A. experience "I was thrilled to be a part of the world premier. YATA convinced me that I want to pursue a career in theatre. I will always carry the memories and friends of YATA in my heart; I would never trade this experience for the world".
