Empty Bowls

October 17
Empty Bowls

This annual event occurs due to support from our sponsors, volunteers, students, community members and organizations.

Owensboro area (and beyond!) potters, Brescia University students, and community members create beautiful, ceramic bowls which are purchased for a donation to include a simple dinner of soup and bread. Proceeds from the dinner and a silent auction remain in the community and are awarded to local food pantries or soup kitchens who aid in our mission and goal.

In 2023, we raised $34,000 to be split between First Christian Church and King's Table!

When you arrive at our location, you will present your ticket for admittance. Then you'll be ushered inside to choose from hundreds of handcrafted bowls. Once you've selected your bowl, you'll choose your soup and then find a seat. We will have the recipient(s) from the previous year in attendance to share how they used the funds they were awarded. We will also have the current year's recipient(s) speak on their plans.

It is a wonderful opportunity to support those organizations in our community who are doing their part to end hunger.
